I’ve used Wire Barley a few times now to send money overseas, and so far every transfer has gone through without any real issues. Nothing has ever gone missing, which is obviously the main thing I care about.

Most of the time the money shows up around the expected date, but I did have one transfer where I got a little confused about the timeline. I thought it was supposed to arrive one day, then it looked like maybe the next day, and it ended up taking longer than I expected. Support did reply, but it wasn’t instant, so I was kind of checking the app more than I wanted to.

Overall, I still feel like it’s a safe and reliable service. I’d probably give it 4 stars because it does what it’s supposed to do, but I wish the delivery estimates were a bit clearer and maybe a little faster sometimes.

But the exchange rate part felt a bit carelessly handled, like they didn’t really make it clear enough upfront. Sent the payout to my sister and she got it really quickly. I also got the receipt email right away, which was nice for peace of mind.

It’s not a bad experience overall, but the rates just feel kind of average right now. I do wish they were a bit better. Sometimes the whole process makes me feel less like a person and more like just another ticket number in the system.

I mostly use Wire Barley when they’re running promo rates or referral bonuses. I don’t really buy into all the polished company wording about how easy and amazing everything is, but in my case the referral bonus did actually show up after my friend sent money, so that was a plus. Transfers have been okay for me overall. Not flawless every single time, but good enough that I still come back when the rates make sense.
